Asus Chairman Jonney Shih said in an interview that Windows 8 users are still using traditional desktop apps, so Windows RT couldn't be a successful platform on the short term.
People still use a lot of classic Windows apps, Shih said. Microsoft made other mistakes too, he said, noting that one of the most popular apps for Windows 8 is a program to bring back the classic Start menu. With Windows 8.1, Microsoft is bringing back the Start button to the Windows desktop but the start menu is still missing.
