App Runtime for Chrome (ARC) now lets you run Android apps on Google Chrome installed on Windows, OS X, and Linux. The projected started last year in September for Chrome OS with handful of Android apps, but now has expanded to all the desktop platforms.
To run your app, you need three things:
- Android app's APK.
- Chrome running on PC, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook.
- The ARC Welder app for Chrome
It’s an early experiment designed for developers, but anyone can load an Android APK and run it on a PC. By default only one app can be loaded at a time but you can load multiple apps by selecting the download ZIP option in ARC Welder and extracting it and then enabling extension developer mode to load the folder of the extracted APK.
