As you know Windows 7 was Windows NT kernal 6.1, Windows 8 was version 6.2 and Windows 8.1 is 6.3. Current public builds of Windows 10 still shows it as Windows NT 6.4 but Microsoft is finally using version 10.0 instead of 6.4, allowing apps to remain compatible in future.
