Hello! Recently when I tried to play an .mp4 file on Windows Media Player, the player would immediately stop working and tell me it could not play that kind of file, even though the day before it could do it without any problem. I had an option to close the program or click for more information, so when I clicked for more information, it gave me this:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: BEX

Going back to an earlier System Restore point fixed the problem and I could play the files in Media Player again, but during the night Windows installed updates, and in the
morning I couldn't play these .mp4 files once again. So I restored back to an earlier point, changed my updates so they're no longer automatic, and by installing each update one at a time, I finally isolated the problem to Internet Explorer 10. If I install that, Windows Media Player just will not play these files.

I tried a manual update of Internet Explorer 10, turning off all the options for crappy toolbars and everything, thinking that when it automatically installs those may be included, but that didn't help. Had to go back to my pre-IE10 restore point. So no matter what, Internet Explorer 10 kills my ability to play .mp4 files on Windows Media Player.

I don't have any toolbars running on IE9 at all.

I know the obvious answer is "don't install Internet Explorer 10" or if I do, download another player for .mp4 files. But the fact is, this should not be happening, it's indicative of something being wrong, and I would LIKE to be able to install Internet Explorer 10 AND use Windows Media Player to play those files. Has anybody else had this problem, or do you know of a way to fix it?

Here are my system specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Intel Core i5-3350P CPU @ 3.10GHz
ASRock H77M LGA 1155 Motherboard
8 GB 240-Pin DDR3 SD RAM
Diamond 7870PE52GV Radeon HD 7870 GHz Video Card

And all of my programs are installed on this:

SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD256BW 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive

I would appreciate any help you can provide! Thanks!!
