Windows 8.1 Preview: Computer Icon Right-Click Menu Disappears

Hello.  I am having a minor but annoying problem with Windows 8.1 Preview.

With Windows 8 Pro, when I right-click on the My Computer icon in the taskbar, a context menu appears.  One of the options in the menu is Close Window, or Close All Windows if I have more than one Explorer window open.

(I put drive icon shortcuts on my desktop.  That permits multiple windows open.)

Anyway…after updating to Windows 8.1, the context menu for the My Computer icon has completely disappeared.  It's gone.  I am unable to close my Explorer windows with one click, which I've been doing for years.

I've tried resetting the jump lists, using a .bat file I found on the Web.  That didn't help.

Am I the only person experiencing this problem?  What could be causing this problem?  Is it a known bug?

I should say this, which may help:  The context menu DID appear at first.  It disappeared after I disabled the shortcut arrows, using a Regedit editing technique I found here:

Would this have any effect on the context menu?  Is there a way for me to reverse the shortcut arrow removal so I could see if that brings back the context menu?

Thank you for your assistance!   J. Danniel
