Good news for would-be Surface Pro buyers:
We have heard very little about when stocks will be replenished, but I do have something encouraging to share. So I called Microsoft Store today (Feb 11) and the rep told me that Microsoft stores "will be getting new shipments early this week". I pressed him for what day that meant and he provided me with a somewhat satisfactory answer of "given time for the shipments, they could arrive Wednesday or Thursday." For me that's more like mid to end of week, but at least they are coming, and hopefully in larger quantities.
Now in my launch day experience, I went to the store at about 2pm because I work early Saturday mornings, thinking I'd get one, especially because I called a few days before and they said they had "a ton". Guess not. In my store, which is a permanent speciality store (West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton Canada), they were taking down names of people who came on opening day after they sold out. The rep had told me they would reserve the tablet of our choice for (probably) 24 hrs when they do arrive. I did ask the rep on the phone whether they would be honouring this, and he said that "if they were taking down names they will probably hold it for 24 hrs." This is good news for anyone who has their name on a list, and desperately wants a Surface Pro, or anyone hoping to walk in by the end of the week and pick one up.
