Microsoft's next Xbox game console will require an always-on Internet connection according to EDGE's sources. Games will still be made available to purchase in physical form as 50GB-capacity Blu-ray discs. The internet connection will check if the games are new or used ones. Second hand games will be blocked from running.
Always-on connection isn't new for PC gamers and it had always been put to a lot of criticism. Assassin's Creed II is the perfect example, from which the always-on connection requirement was removed later on.
It will be interesting to see how the console games will react to this restriction applied by Microsoft.
