If you have ever seen a Chromebook or screenshots of Chrome OS then you must remember an icon at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on it pops up a menu with all of your web apps. Do you know you can bring the App Launcher Menu to the Windows taskbar if you use Google Chrome?

After enabling the App Launcher, a new icon in the taskbar will appear (screenshot above). It's a launcher that includes all the apps you've installed from the Chrome Web Store and a search box that works just like Chrome's Omnibox.

How to enable the App Launcher?

First of all download Chrome beta or Chromium (It will be added to Chrome's stable channel soon). Now open a new tab, enter this address: chrome://flags , press Enter, scroll to the bottom of the page, Enable "Show Chromium Apps Launcher" and restart the browser.

Benefits?

The App Launcher remain in the taskbar even if you close Google Chrome. It's a faster way to open an app, perform a search or go to any website. You can also use it for simple calculations, unit conversions and for performing Google's shortcuts. Check the screenshots below.
