All three Preview versions of Windows 8, named as "Developer, Consumer and Release Preview" expire today. If you installed any of the three Windows 8 versions and wish to stick with the new operating system, you have no other option but to purchase a new license.
All the three versions of Windows 8 will now display alert messages to buy a license. The PCs installed with any of these versions will restart automatically every hour until a genuine product key is provided.
Windows 8 Pro is available for $39.99 if purchased online on Windows.com, and the boxed DVD-based upgrade is available for $69.99. The OS will be priced at $199 after the promotional price expires on January 31, 2013. The $15 Windows 8 Upgrade Offer is also going to expire on the same date.
