Belarus bans access to ALL foreign websites

In a surprising move, the government of Belarus has banned its citizens from accessing foreign websites, punishable by fines up to $125. According to the United States Library of Congress, Belarus has authorized its national police force, secret police agencies and tax authorities “to initiate, investigate and prosecute” any violations by individuals and organizations both domestic and foreign. Meaning any foreign and international company such as Amazon found to be doing business with Belarus citizens could find themselves being held in contempt of the state by the Attorney General of Belarus, and possibly face a lawsuit.

According to the Computer Business Review, the law aims to “to protect the rights of Belarusian citizens… to improve the quality of internet services and make them cheaper, and to encourage further growth of the national segment of the internet network.”

It is unknown how this will work out with computer system updates, as I am assuming Microsoft's, Apple's, Canonical's, etc. servers are all international from Belarus.

What. The. Frak? :o
